Welcome to the California Bus Association

Since, 1969, the California Bus Association has given Motorcoach companies a venue to pursue excellence in the industry.  Our dedicated members work together to provide information that assists all operators, large and small, in their daily business success.

The association is a resource and offers members information on compliance with regulatory agencies - the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, California Highway Patrol, Department of Motor Vehicles, Air Resources Board and others.

Continuing Education Opportunities

The association has an annual spring maintenance seminar where technicians from across California come to learn the latest technology and best practices to keep the coaches operating safely.  Each year in Sacramento we hold a Charter Party Carrier Round-table discussion with the various agencies that regulate our industry. This results in better understanding between the operators and regulators. The annual convention which is held in October each year, is another excellent opportunity for our members to learn about regulatory issues, safe operations and connect with industry vendors.

Other CBA Activities and Accomplishments

CBA has established relationships with the CHP (Motor Carriers), PUC, DMV and other agencies to keep ahead of issues and help resolve immediate situations that are affecting your Company.

CBA monitors the board of Equalization meeting agendas to make sure an inadvertent change is not made to taxes or fees that pertain to the bus industry.

The CBA board is a committed group of bus owners or managers who are available via conference calls to discuss legislation or issues affecting the motor coach Industry. The board gives direction to the CBA Lobbyist who arranges meetings with legislator’s staff to discuss the facts of the issue(s) and to educate the author as to how our industry operates.

CBA has reciprocal relationships with the Northwest Motor Coach Association, American Bus Association, United Motorcoach Association, and School Bus Contractors Association to keep abreast of the issues affecting Motor Coach and School Transportation.

CBA Board members attend other State Association meetings to be informed of issues other states are dealing with.

CBA has been an association for the past 48 years with both long-term and newer members. This allows for mentoring of the new members and a good history of what our industry has endured through the many years.

Professional Advocacy

CBA monitors all legislative issues that could impact the industry and works closely with the government entities to achieve realistic results on behalf of its members.
